The L&D Business Partner has a deep understanding of the needs of the organisation and its people driving learning to ensure high performance and strong people engagement through successful learning outcomes. Leading the Learning team at Atom, the L&D BP works with the stakeholders in creating and providing learning experiences which challenge and support our people in their development. The L&DBP has responsibility for end-to-end learning journeys at Atom including the design, development and delivery of learning and development activities, learning communities and talent management initiatives.

What will your ‘typical’ day look like…. (there’s no 2 days the same in Atom):

  • Responsibility for the Learning team in designing and driving the Learning agenda at Atom ensuring that it meets the needs of the business and drives performance through:

Learning Needs Analysis, Diagnosis and Delivery

  • Work with stakeholders across the business to ensure trends, short- and long-term development and communication needs are identified and included in the learning agenda (Atom Academy)
  • Facilitate the development of cross-organisation and departmental training plans which identify both organisation, systems and product training driven by Business as Usual as well as programme and project requirements
  • Manage and embed the Atom Academy to design and deliver learning solutions, predominantly using SME software knowledge - to maximise in house creation, utilising expert third parties where necessary
  • Creation and application of the Atom Academy standards for the development of all learning interventions within
  • Ensure learning and communications use of a wide range of creative digital and blended learning interventions and approaches including comms and lesson plans, manuals and all training materials that align to the Atom Academy standards
  • Create evaluation methods for all learning and development activities with a continued focus on improvement
  • Effectively manage the L&D budget to ensure best use of funds available, including sourcing and relationship management of external training providers as required
  • Management of third-party suppliers including LMS provider
  • Effective management of the LMS systems in designing delivering and record-keeping of all learning interventions
  • Ensure accuracy and maintenance of all learning records for all employees including Senior Manager Regime and Certification Regime populations.

Talent Management

  • Ensure career pathways are developed across all disciplines in Atom
  • Map and manage talent data/information to create learning journeys and drive high performance
  • Responsibility for Atom Professional Qualification and Atom Apprenticeship programmes
  • Ensure Atom has effective learning communities that empower everyone to share their own learning and experiences.

Management of data

  • Provide real-time and management information on learning and development activities
  • Effectively manage the L&D budget to ensure best use of funds available, including sourcing and relationship management of external training providers as required
  • Collate and manage evaluation feedback for all learning and development activities with a continued focus on improvement.

Leadership and Coaching

  • Manage the Learning team providing support, advice and oversight to the communications and learning they develop
  • Support the activities of the Chief People Officer and promotes shared values across the People Experience team.

What do we need from you?

  • CIPD or relevant Learning and Development/Training qualification or Demonstrable experience within a hands-on design and training delivery role or equivalent
  • Demonstrable stakeholder management with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels in the organisation
  • Training needs analysis, design and delivery skills including eLearning for delivery via a virtual learning environment
  • Knowledge of new technology relevant to all aspects of learning
  • Communication of complex information simply and effectively, both verbally and written
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage effectively and confidently with a wide range of people, including staff at all levels within the organization
  • Excellent verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to write in a clear and concise manner to suit a range of audiences
  • Experience of producing creative learning solutions using a combination of software applications, such as audio/video editing, assessment and grading, and video conferencing
  • Ability to manage large groups of people of all levels, knowledge, and backgrounds
  • Knowledge of learning styles and preferences
  • Knowledge of training evaluation methodology.
