As the Environments and Infrastructure lead, you will be accountable for the provision and run of all Atom environments, infrastructure, networks and applications from Dev, through Test and to Production and be the single point of escalation on any issue covering environments and infrastructure.

You should have demonstrable experience of managing development, test and production environments in public cloud, preferably Google Cloud Platform, 3rd party managed (e.g. SAAS) and private datacentre environments.

What will your ‘typical’ day look like…. (there’s no 2 days the same in Atom):

  • Designing Atom environments and strategy to meet project requirements
  • Design and delivery of networking needed to connect Atom public cloud environments with SaaS & on-premises environments
  • Configuration, scheduling and release management of environments
  • Maintaining Atom owned environments, e.g. patching upgrades and managing public cloud (Google) costs
  • Accountability for the creation and delivery to the infrastructure and environments plan across all Atom technology workstreams
  • Technical vendor relationship management with all key vendors who are part of the Atom architecture
  • Configuration Management of all environments

All roles within Atom must adhere to the Conduct Rules as set out by the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

As part of our journey in building and running a bank we’ll encounter many risks along the way. In order to make sure the road doesn’t become too bumpy we expect everyone to make a conscious effort to proactively tackle and highlight any risks that we might face.

What do we need from you?

  • Experience of managing, defining and delivering environments across public cloud (Google), 3rd party hosted (SaaS) and private data centres
  • Proven public cloud platform experience, ideally Google Cloud
  • Understanding of compute, storage, data and networking technologies in both public cloud (Google) and data centre environments
  • Self-directed, proactive, able to work on own initiative with a best practice approach
  • Able to articulate technical issues (with environments) in terms of business risk and opportunity
  • Management of small to medium-sized technical teams

What would we ideally like from you?

  • Other public cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure) experience
  • Logging, monitoring and alerting solutions on public cloud platforms
  • Infrastructure-as-code principles and tooling, e.g. Hashicorp Terraform and Red Hat Ansible
  • CICD pipelines and tooling, e.g. GitLab and Jenkins
  • Secure computing best practices

What you’ll get from us:

  • Competitive Salary
  • Annual share option bonus – performance related, up to 10% of basic salary
  • Incredibly generous company pension scheme (13% Atom contribution)
  • 25 days holiday + 8 statutory days – rising by half a day with every year in the company
  • Private medical insurance for you and immediate family
  • ‘All About Me’ fund – £200 per year to spend on learning a new skill (but it can’t be anything to do with your job). Recently people have done upholstery courses, had driving lessons and a rowing membership.
  • Health cash plan – expenses paid on optical/dental/other appointments/treatments
  • Life insurance – four times annual salary
  • Critical illness cover – 1 x lump sum annual salary
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Continuous development – professional qualifications.
