Role description

The crucial bridge between the business and technology, the Technical Writer is the driving force behind delivering tangible business value through investigating business problems/opportunities, identifying business needs, exploring solution options, and owning change through the entirety of the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

  • Stakeholder identification, engagement, collaboration and management
  • Act as the key liaison between the Architecture and DevOps
  • Maintain the alignment of the Agile development cycle with the wider business goals & strategy
  • Develop technical requirements into user stories that reflect a complete understanding of processes and feature requirements
  • Define conditions of acceptance for effective testing and delivery validation
  • Effective management of development backlog including prioritisation, estimation and ongoing review and feedback
  • Provide empowered decision making in line with objectives
  • Full participation in planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives and product demonstrations
  • Perform capability assessment
  • Shape & define project scope
  • Liaise with solution architect to validate solution design
  • Custodian of requirements throughout development lifecycle
  • Liaise with test team to inform on test strategy
  • Champion for Agile and Lean practices and principles across the organisation
  • Work with Scrum Master to coach other areas in processes

Qualifactions:

  • Relevant tertiary education (IT/Business) or qualified by experience

Key Performance Indicators

  • Key artefact delivery (e.g. acceptance of user stories into product backlog / process / etc.)
  • Minimal requirement changes post baseline

Essential Capabilities/experience

  • Significant experience in a Scrum Agile environment
  • Excellent communication & writing skills
  • Strong facilitation & negotiation skills
  • Analytical / critical thinker
  • Attention to detail

Desired Capabilities/Experience:

  • Knowledge of DevOps or other technical development methodologies
  • Proficient with Confluence / Jira
  • Strong understanding of Scrum Agile methodologies
  • Problem solver
  • Able to build rapport with business stakeholders
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Self-confidence to challenge thinking / decisions
  • Comfortable working on multiple projects in parallel
