Meet Neil: A customer who values security

Team Atom

Today we’re diving into Neil’s experience with Atom. He’s a retired teacher from Guildford, and has been using Atom for a few years now, so we wanted to hear all about it.

Security and trust

For Neil, security is a key factor when choosing a financial app. “I want my money to be safe and secure, knowing I don’t have to worry about my details being stolen. So a good login system is important.” When asked about how he chooses to secure the app, he prefers to use his device’s fingerprint recognition feature that’s supported by the Atom app.“Personally I prefer the fingerprint method because of ease of use” he added.

Neil also appreciates the convenience of the Atom app. “If you need to get in and do something fast, you can do it quickly and easily wherever you are”. He checks his accounts every month or two, especially when a Fixed Saver is nearing its maturity date.

Retirement and finances

We also wanted to delve a little deeper into retirement and how it affects Neil’s relationship with money. Neil shared that he planned for retirement with “a teacher’s pension and ISA savings”. His main financial goal was to “have enough pension income for a modest retirement”. Neil explained that using Atom has helped him manage his savings in retirement by “offering good savings rates”.

He stated that he typically reviews his savings “every 3 months or so.” Furthermore, Neil mentioned that his savings priorities have changed since retiring, having “moved to cash savings away from shares”. When asked for advice for someone approaching retirement about managing their savings, Neil thinks it’s important to “keep looking at rate comparison sites. Do some sums about income and expenditure to check what you need”.

Neil uses Fixed Savers for some of his savings and explained that he chose a Fixed Saver with Atom because of “a good rate and it’s easy to manage when you’re in the app”.
