We’re Atom bank
The bank that’s on a mission to make finance faster, simpler and way more human.
We’ve ditched the stuffy banking model to build something that actually works for our customers, whenever and wherever they need us. To make this happen, we’re looking for like-minded people who can help us reach our goals and think differently.
If you’re ready to build the future of banking, we’d love to meet you.
We really value in-person collaboration so this role requires weekly time in our Newcastle office.
What will your ‘typical’ day look like? Different that’s for sure…:
Cost leadership is central to Atom’s strategy, and our Value Management team plays a pivotal role in optimising financial performance, tracking spend, and driving strategic value across our product lines.
As a Junior Value Management Analyst, you won’t just be tracking spreadsheets; you’ll be an active problem-solver. You will evaluate expenditure against budget, uncover trends, design automated workflows, and transform financial data into actionable insights for non-finance budget holders across the business.
This role offers a supportive environment to build your skills in financial modeling, process governance, and strategic performance management. You’ll receive continuous coaching from experienced colleagues while making a visible impact on Atom’s financial efficiency.
What you’ll be doing:
- Variance Analysis & Insight: Track actual spend against budgets, identify discrepancies, and build clear commentary explaining the “why” to senior stakeholders.
- Data Visualisation: Convert cost data into intuitive visual reports and dashboards that make complex numbers easy to understand for non-finance teams.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively spot manual bottlenecks in cost-tracking workflows and help design automated, streamlined processes.
- Financial Integrity: Perform cost reconciliations between actual spend, forecasts, and ledger entries to maintain a single source of truth.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Financial Control, FP&A, and Treasury teams on collaborative project deliverables.
What do we need from you?
- Comfortable working with complex numeric data, spotting trends, drawing logical conclusions, and solving problems
- Solid practical Excel skills (pivot tables, standard formulas, clear data formatting) paired with an eagerness to learn workflow optimization
- Ability to translate raw financial numbers into clear summaries and communicate effectively across different departments.
- Diligent approach to variance tracking, data entry, and quality assurance.
- We are open-minded, you don’t have to have a finance background, as long as you display a strong analytical and problem solving mindset and are keen to learn.
What you’ll get from us?
- Salary up to £30,000
- Flexible hybrid working in Newcastle
- Discretionary cash bonus based on company & individual performance
- 4-day work week
- Incredibly generous company pension scheme (maximum of 13% of Atom input – you can put in more)
- ‘All About Me’ fund: £200 per year to spend on personal development.
- 22.5 days annual leave plus public holidays
- Private Medical Insurance, Health Cash Plan & Life Insurance
- Enhanced Parental Leave
- Electric Vehicle Scheme
