Workplace innovation leading the way

This achievement is the direct result of key initiatives put in place across the bank. We recently moved our nearly 600-strong workforce to The Pattern Shop in Newcastle, creating an iconic new HQ while maintaining our fully flexible working practices. This significant investment is designed to be a hub for recruitment, onboarding, training, and collaboration for all areas of the business.

Atom has been a pioneer in challenging traditional ways of working. Since November 2021, we have been the largest UK business, and the first bank, to successfully move all employees to a four-day working week with no loss in salary. This shift has been overwhelmingly successful and has had a profoundly positive impact on our status as a great place to work.

Nurturing talent and enhancing support

Our focus on support and inclusion is stronger than ever. We’ve enhanced our family leave offering and launched crucial initiatives like the introduction of Menopause Champions and the creation of the Atom Women’s network, which now has over 100 active members.

Our team is growing, having welcomed 57 new people over the last 12 months, including eight graduate trainees. Internal career development is thriving, with 62 promotions and role changes and 26 secondments completed, showcasing our commitment to nurturing talent from within.
